Case Study: Claims Processing System Rewrite

The Client: one of the principal companies in the excess insurance market

Project Category: Development

Services Performed: Requirements Definition, Application Development, Application Enhancement

The Old System

This custom solution handles the management of information pertaining, but not limited to: accounts, broker relationships, policies, claims, and documents. The origins of this custom system were based in IBM’s outdated RPG set on the AS/400. The client required a more up-to-date technology stack for their claims management system. As this mission-critical system was directly linked to company profitability, all changes required strategic planning and execution.

The New System

Now an Object Oriented solution written in Java, the updated system was designed from the ground up in a SCRUM-based environment. Currently, our team is in the process of further enhancing the system by distributing some of its functional capabilities into stateless, service-based, modular components. By doing this, we are improving the organization’s ability to scale the needed functional services in a more discrete and efficient fashion.

The Keyhole Software team has been involved in the total creation, enhancement, and maintenance of this complete insurance management system. To this date, we are still involved in the enhancement of this production system, and continue to improve its usability and feature set for its more than 100 users.
