Sr. Keyhole Software Consultants engaged with a national provider of vision insurance to strategically improve the company’s Payment Claim batch processes. The client’s existing batch processes had been in the process of migration and rewrite from COBOL to Spring Batch by another consulting firm.
A Keyhole Software Spring Batch SME was brought in initially to perform an architecture assessment and health check on the client system. When problems were found, he then created a strategic plan to improve the scalability, reliability, maintainability and performance of the Payment Claim batch processes.
As often in our work at Keyhole Software, our work with this client was extended to continue through the proposed strategic rewrite.
That Keyhole SME continued on as a leader of a team, providing part-time project management, technical analysis, and architectural guidance working toward an efficient implementation of Spring Batch. Two additional Keyhole Software Consultants provided full-time development support to productionalize and implement Spring Batch jobs during the migration from a mainframe COBOL-based system to a distributed Java based system.
The overarching architecture approach was to support the existing Spring Batch framework and design patterns in place, while incorporating aspects of the assessment provided by Keyhole, where deemed appropriate, for meeting delivery dates.
