Keyhole Enterprise Architects assisted two main change initiatives which included the Architectural Analysis of a large application domain in addition to an Analysis of Alternatives. Keyhole consultants were tasked with analyzing the current system’s architectural footprint. Working with the current federal IT and business staff, they developed a vision of the future state of those systems, and created a transition roadmap of projects to reach that future state.

This roadmap would be used within the budget formulation process to request funds for those projects. They were also asked to create a Business Capability map of the domain to determine ‘what’ they do, run an assessment of how well those capabilities perform, and generate a heat map of those evaluated capabilities to determine areas of improvement.

The team also analyzed the Customer Information System that the client used to keep track of producers and their products. They determined the needs of the government to perform these functions, evaluated the performance of current systems to meet these needs (according to business functionality and financial impact), determined possible alternatives to current systems, and developed a recommendation of their future system.

Findings were presented to the Chief Information Officer. The CIO then presented this information to the Secretary of the government office it served, as a vision of the direction that the organization would like to drive toward.
