ServerlessAn Introduction to the Serverless Framework
This 55-minute video dives into the "Serverless" framework, an open-source tool that aims to simplify building, packaging, and deploying serverless applications across multiple cloud providers and platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
The video was recorded at a Keyhole Software Employee Lunch & Learn in June 2022. Speaker Jaime Niswonger is a Principal Consultant at Keyhole Software with nearly three decades of experience as a change agent for enterprise software development.
Serverless RecordingConcepts + Code Walkthrough | Deploying To AWS, Azure & Multi-Cloud
Serverless Video Overview
Serverless is an open-source framework for building, packaging, and deploying serverless applications across multiple cloud providers and platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, etc.
Principal Consultant Jaime Niswonger first explores the “big ideas” surrounding *serverless computing* as a construct to explain better its benefits and limitations, including key considerations and when/why companies wouldn't choose serverless or FaaS.
Niswonger then dives into key components of the Serverless Framework (00:12:45), including a walkthrough of functions, events, resources, and services. He then switches to a complete code walkthrough featuring various use cases deploying to AWS, Azure, and multi-cloud to show the framework’s versatility.
The talk introduces five open-source, encapsulated container-based repositories developers can download and clone, demonstrating deployment to Azure, AWS, and multi-cloud environments. Niswonger also includes a more robust TypeScript implementation using the Apollo GraphQL framework deploying to AWS and Azure. All code is available on https://github.com/in-the-keyhole?q=sls.
