When Drag and Drop was introduced to the Angular Material/CDK in version 7, it promised to support free dragging, interactive lists, and other common drag and drop operations without third-party library dependencies. Since that initial release, it has received consistent updates to further that goal.

In this blog post, I will be exploring some of the strengths and limitations of the Module that I encountered while implementing both simple and complex drag and drop functionality with CDK version 13.3.5.

Moving Google Tag Manager from Xamarin to Flutter

While working with a major theater chain, I was tasked with implementing Analytics into their Xamarin app. Part of that work included implementing Google Tag Manager. At a later date, I was again tasked with implementing Google Tag Manager but this time, into their Flutter app. I expected the implementation to be similar and definitely easier the second time around, but I found that to be false. The setup had some major twists and turns that I didn’t expect.

Although this was sometimes a frustrating challenge, I had fun figuring it out. Most companies running their apps with Xamarin will be moving their apps to a newer SDK like Flutter at some point. Flutter allows cross platform development for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, Google Fuchsia, and Web from a single codebase and shared languages. So this move is almost inevitable.

In this post, I’ll take you through a step-by-step tutorial of transferring from Xamarin to Flutter. By the end, GTM will be in your Flutter app!

Kendo Grid: A Primer For First-Time Users

This is my take on working with Kendo Grid in a Vue 3 project. While I have not explored the grid functionality to the nth degree, these are some things I like about the grid, some difficulties I had implementing it, and some workarounds and quirks I have discovered. Specifically, I will be referring to the Vue implementation of Kendo Grid and the Native Components. This is not to be confused with the Kendo UI for Vue Wrappers.

Kendo Grid is a very robust tool for displaying data in table format. Out-of-the-box features include sorting, filtering, and pagination. Simply defining the column schema with a few config options will have the grid set up quickly. A few features that require more coding and configuration are column collapsing, adding a toolbar, displaying aggregated fields, using custom cell components, implementing column groups, and exporting grid data to a file.
